event — New Year's Greetings!

Dear friends,

For more than 30 years, every December, I designed and produced the studio’s greeting card—choosing the paper, taking part in the printing process, and enjoying every step along the way.

While putting the cards into envelopes and applying address labels, I always thought of each of you: of our last meeting, looking forward to meeting you again. Not to mention the simple pleasures of licking stamps and carefully sticking the “Priority” label onto the corner of the envelope…

At first, our best wishes were sent to you from Boris Berlin Design; later from Komplot Design; then from Iskos–Berlin; and, over the past seven years, once again from Boris Berlin Design. I hope you enjoyed receiving them—at least some of you did.

I truly enjoyed this ritual, and at the same time, it was my stubborn attempt to resist the growing dematerialisation of communication. But I must admit that keeping life in “printed matter” has become more difficult with each passing year. First, the Danish Royal Post vanished, replaced by PostNord; then postal rates skyrocketed; and now they stopped accepting letters altogether.

Thus, by the end of the first quarter of this century, I had finally given up swimming against the stream of “progress” and shifted into the digital world.*

At least one thing remains unchanged: our best wishes for you are as sincere as ever!

Boris Berlin
